Math Kangaroo practice: common questions
Are there free Math Kangaroo practice questions? +
Yes. Our Grades 3–4 and Grades 5–6 practice problem sets are completely free, each with full step-by-step solutions, and the weekly Problem of the Week is free too. Each grade-band guide also includes a free sample you can download.
How many questions are on Math Kangaroo, and what is the time limit? +
Every level has a 75-minute time limit. Grades 1–4 answer 24 multiple-choice questions; Grades 5–12 answer 30. There are five answer choices per question and no points are deducted for a wrong answer, so a guess never hurts.
What is the best way to practice for Math Kangaroo? +
Short and steady beats cramming: a couple of problems a few times a week, always reviewing the full solution. Once your child is comfortable, do one full practice test under the real 75-minute limit so the timing feels familiar on contest day.
When is the next Math Kangaroo competition? +
Math Kangaroo is held on the third Thursday in March each year. The next contest is March 18, 2027 — see our Math Kangaroo 2027 page for the registration timeline and fees.
