Dates follow Math Kangaroo's standard schedule; registration is open now on the official site at mathkangaroo.org, and fees are non-refundable. Calculators, phones, and smartwatches are not allowed.
How to register for Math Kangaroo 2027
- Pick how your child will take the test. Registration is open for three options: in person at a school or center, online at a proctored center, or online at home managed by a center. As of October 2026, registration for the remote direct-to-home and virtual self-proctored options is closed.
- Register on mathkangaroo.org. Parents sign up their own child; no school team is needed. If you're using an in-person or center-managed option, choose the center during registration.
- Pay before December 31, 2026 for the $20 fee. From January 1 to February 1, 2027 it's $35, and registration closes after that. There are no refunds, so check the center and option before paying.
- Plan practice backwards from March 18. Twelve weeks of short, regular sessions, starting around Christmas, fits most families.
What the 2027 test looks like
- • A single 75-minute sitting, multiple choice, five answer choices per question.
- • 24 questions for Grades 1–4, 30 questions for Grades 5–12.
- • Questions are worth 3, 4, and 5 points by difficulty — and nothing is deducted for a wrong answer, so guessing is risk-free.
- • Take it in person or online through a center, including at home.
