Dates follow Math Kangaroo's standard schedule; confirm exact windows and register on the official site at mathkangaroo.org when registration opens. Calculators, phones, and smartwatches are not allowed.

What the 2027 test looks like

  • A single 75-minute sitting, multiple choice, five answer choices per question.
  • 24 questions for Grades 1–4, 30 questions for Grades 5–12.
  • Questions are worth 3, 4, and 5 points by difficulty — and nothing is deducted for a wrong answer, so guessing is risk-free.
  • Take it in person, proctored online, or self-proctored at home.

Math Kangaroo 2027 is on Thursday, March 18, 2027. The competition is always held on the third Thursday in March.

How much does Math Kangaroo 2027 cost? +

Registration is $18 per student during the early window (about mid-September through December 31, 2026) and $35 per student during late registration (January 1 to February 1, 2027). Fees are non-refundable.

What grades can enter Math Kangaroo 2027? +

Math Kangaroo is open to students in grades 1 through 12. Grades 1–4 answer 24 multiple-choice questions; Grades 5–12 answer 30. Every level has a 75-minute time limit and there is no penalty for a wrong answer.

Can my child take Math Kangaroo 2027 at home? +

Yes. Besides in-person centers, Math Kangaroo offers a proctored online option and a self-proctored virtual option, so families without a nearby center can still take part. You register your own child directly — no school is required.
