Cover of the Noetic Math Contest Prep Guide — Grade 3

A Complete Noetic Study Plan for Third Grade.

The Grade 3 Noetic test is 20 word problems with no answer choices: your child writes each answer, with its unit. Most problems take several steps, and one small word can change the answer.

This guide is pitched at that level. Each chapter teaches one kind of problem, then builds from a friendly start to problems harder than most of the real test.

Every answer has a picture, one line for your child, and a note for you with the most common wrong answer, so you can see exactly where the thinking went off track.

What's inside

Everything your child needs to prepare for Noetic Grade 3.

15 Focused Chapters

Money, fractions, rates, balances, logic, counting, area and perimeter, chance and more — one kind of problem at a time.

190 Practice Problems

Original multi-step word problems, with the hardest two in each chapter marked for a second try.

Every Answer Explained

A picture, a line for your child, and a parent note naming the most common wrong answer.

Two Full Practice Tests

Two 20-question mock contests in the real 45-minute, write-your-answer format, with complete answers.

A Four-Week Study Plan

Frequently asked questions

What grade is this guide for?

This edition is written specifically for third grade. The problems match the Grade 3 contest: 20 multi-step word problems, answered without choices.

Is it hard?

Yes, on purpose. The real Grade 3 test is hard, so the guide is pitched at that level. The two starred problems in each chapter are harder than most of the test; it is fine to leave them for a second try.

How should my child use the guide?

Three or four problems a day is plenty. Work through the 15 chapters in four weeks, then take Practice Test A; save the timed Practice Test B for a few days before the contest.

Are the problems original?

Yes — 100% original, written in the style and difficulty of the real contest. We never copy actual contest problems.

How do I get the guide after buying?

You'll get an instant download page after checkout, plus an email with your download link.

Is there a refund policy?

We generally don't offer refunds, but if you're not satisfied, contact us and we'll do our best to make it right.
