A Complete Noetic Study Plan for Fifth Grade.
The Grade 5 Noetic test is 20 word problems with no answer choices: your child writes each answer, with its unit. It is hard — the typical fifth grader who takes it solves about 11 of the 20, and the honor roll needs 17 or more.
This guide is pitched at that level and a little above. Each chapter teaches one kind of problem — ratios, rates, fractions, logic, counting, geometry — then climbs to problems at the level of Noetic’s Grade 7 samples, with two starred Challenges harder than almost anything on the real Grade 5 test.
Every answer shows the working, explains it in a few plain sentences, and ends with why the method works and the most common wrong answer, so your child can see exactly where the thinking went off track.

Frequently asked questions
What grade is this guide for?
This edition is written specifically for fifth grade. The problems match the Grade 5 contest: 20 multi-step word problems, answered without choices. Sixth graders should pick the Grades 5–6 guide until the Grade 6 edition is out.
Is it hard?
Yes, on purpose. The real Grade 5 test is hard, so the guide is pitched at that level and a little above. Problems 7 and 8 in each chapter are at the level of Noetic’s Grade 7 samples, and the two starred problems are harder still; it is fine to leave them for a second try.
How should my child use the guide?
Three or four problems a day is plenty. Work through the 16 chapters in four weeks, then take Practice Test A; save the timed Practice Test B for a few days before the contest.
Are the problems original?
Yes — 100% original, written in the style and difficulty of the real contest. We never copy actual contest problems.
How do I get the guide after buying?
You'll get an instant download page after checkout, plus an email with your download link.
Is there a refund policy?
We generally don't offer refunds, but if you're not satisfied, contact us and we'll do our best to make it right.
